Amazon India selling refurbished smartphones, in partnership with Surpluss.in

Amazon India is now selling refurbished smartphones in partnership with Surpluss.in, an online refurbished and unboxed product-seller based in Delhi. As of now, Amazon India is selling smartphones only from Samsung and Xiaomi, with plans to add brands like Motorola, OnePlus, Apple, Lava, and Micromax, in the near future. The e-commerce giant is also offering a six-month brand warranty on all refurbished devices available from its portal.

In this partnership, Surpluss will help Amazon with its service network. Tarun Bhardwaj, Executive Director at Surpluss.in said, “There's a strong momentum in the refurbished smart phone market. That demand is being fed by the 20-25 million electronic devices that are returned to sellers every year. We are proud to partner with Amazon India for powering their refurbished corner. This Partnership with Amazon, will enable us to leverage their strengths, and innovations in technology to reach out to wider set of consumers across India. The company has received more than 150 orders within a week of its Amazon debut.”

A refurbished smartphone is one that's already been unboxed and/or used, but restored to near-mint condition either by the manufacturer or a certified agent. 'Restore’, typically, means that the phone is inspected, cleaned, and repaired (if required) to meet brand specifications. As of now, Amazon India is selling only Samsung's and Xiaomi's refurbished devices. Other refurbishing agents like Overcart.com, Gobol.in and Greendust.com have a wider variety featuring other brands.
